About FontsStack

FontsStack is a free font library built for designers, developers, students and anyone who loves typography. Our goal is simple: make it easy to discover, preview and download quality fonts, and to know exactly how each one may be used before you download it.

Who runs FontsStack

FontsStack is created and maintained by Nicholas Anthony, a full-stack web developer and designer. The site started as a personal project to solve a problem every designer knows well — finding a great font is easy, but working out whether you are actually allowed to use it is not. FontsStack puts the preview, the styles and the licensing information together in one place so you can make that decision with confidence.

What we offer

  • Live previews. Type your own text and see every font render instantly, at any size, before you download.
  • Clear licensing. Each font page states whether the font is free for personal use, free for commercial use, or requires a paid license, based on the font's own license files.
  • Organised browsing. Fonts are sorted into categories such as serif, sans-serif, script, display, handwritten and monospace, and can be searched or browsed A–Z.
  • Web-ready files. Where a font's license permits it, we provide optimised WOFF2/WOFF web fonts and a ready-made stylesheet.

How we choose fonts

Every font is reviewed for its license before it is published. We publish fonts that are free to download, and we clearly separate fonts that are free for commercial use from those that are for personal use only. When a font is not free to distribute, we link to the designer or foundry where a commercial license can be purchased, rather than hosting it ourselves. We respect the work of type designers, and we remove any file promptly if a rights holder asks us to.

How our descriptions are written

To keep font pages informative and consistent, some descriptions are generated with the help of AI using each font's own metadata — its name, styles, category and license — and are reviewed before publishing. Technical details such as available styles and license status are read directly from the font's own files. If you ever spot an error on a font page, please contact us and we will correct it.
